Blight from Artemis
by Katerina (Euronychodon)
Your advance shadows tiny goddess' feet, with fingers vice claws and the
huntress's hazel gaze, you leap to thump the stump where we sacrifice egg
thieves. And I lean back in surprise at your closeness, intimacy, and
blazing skin, cringing in the face of your resolve. Oh, Artemis! Goddess, I
shall hunt your service evermore, with these claws you sharpen, and my teeth
made long by your song. The day stops short--the moon whistles apex and
shines pride at my eyes. How many agents have you chosen? Do I alone dance
olives and hunt in your name? Shall I starve for sacrifice, or will the
smell of torn meat sustain your goddess' shell? Unlike fickle Zeus, your
father and the protector of your belt, you shan't desert my humble
willingness. My nights are yours, and, with your blessing, my hunt shall
thicken the vines and hills of Europe, down to the widening, newest,
Mediterranean depth, to fling the hides of two of every
beast.
Blue Suitor
by Augustin (Antarctosaurus)
Romandeo,
You think you know
That Rosaline is thine.
Your neck is long,
Your call a song,
Your teeth are very fine.
What female wouldn't twine her spine
Around your wicked nape?
But she is mine. With stumpy legs,
She follows in my wake.
You are too far; your home's the sea.
We live in Lago Grey.
She'll never leave me long, my dear,
And brings my bedding hay.
For I am someone special, too,
And not for hardy bones.
My neck is short. My gait is flat.
My song resembles moans.
Sweet Rosaline cares not for capes
Or paltry parlor tricks.
Instead, there's something in my gaze
That keeps her heart affixed.
My corneas are blue, my friend,
The first this world has seen!
My mare and I will procreate
And promulgate this gene.
And, over time, my DNA
Shall influence the stars,
And girls will go on dates with boys
Who drive small, boring cars.
Brunch
by Chen Callum (Gallimimus)
A star! A star!
So near! So far!
I run, then climb and grab the bar,
To crest a hill (and miss the tar),
And make my wish for eggs tartare.
My sisters, June and Zanzibar,
Cook their omelets,
In the fire until they dry out,
Sad and dire!
Spinosaur nest, I'm not afraid
To rob your spoils, to steal your eggs,
And gobble like a burly owl,
While June looks on with lizard scowl.
Oh, star of mine! Please lend your aid!
Reveal the eggs that were mislaid.
Light up my sisters, hid in clover,
When Spinosaurus wanders over.
